FAQS
Q:
What is an ezer?
Ezer
[pronounced Azer with a long sounding A, as in razor] is a powerful
Hebrew military word. It is used most often in the Old Testament to
describe God as Israel’s helper. God uses ezer
twice when he creates the woman.
“The
LORD God said, ‘It
is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper [ezer]
suitable for him’” (Genesis 2:18, also 20).
God
created the woman to be a warrior
alongside the man in advancing God’s kingdom throughout the
earth. This is every woman’s calling, regardless of her age,
marital status, or circumstances. It applies to every sphere of a
woman’s life, whether we’re at home, in the
workplace, the community, or engaged in ministry somewhere in the world.
Every
woman is an ezer
from birth to death. We are warriors for God’s purposes
alongside our brothers in Christ.

Q:
I'm not involved in vocational ministry.
Can I attend a Synergy conference?
Synergy
welcomes any woman who is interested or involved in ministry.
Women who attend our conferences represent a wide variety of church,
para-church, academic, and non-profit ministries as vocational and
volunteer leaders. If you are passionate about ministry and want to
join with other like-minded women and men in ministry, then
Synergy is for you!
Q:
Can men attend Synergy conferences?
From
the very beginning of Synergy, men have
attended (and enjoyed!) our conferences. In fact, our Synergy
conferences are a reflection of our belief that men and women are
called to serve God together. Men have played significant roles in
launching Synergy, funding our efforts, and cheering us on. We
couldn’t have done it without them! And now they participate
as speakers, workshop participants, and conference attendees. So
yes, men are welcome too!
